Free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV were great! No pets allowed was a downside.

Couldn't recommend more for a fleeting stay

Comfortable room, beautiful bathroom, where I enjoyed a delightful shower and a peaceful night's sleep after a long day of exploring nearby attractions, all with the added benefit of free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV for relaxation.

Nothing to complain about at all.

Staying at this charming place made exploring the area easy, as it was just a short stroll to the fabulous Bowes Museum and countless delightful cafes and shops. I truly appreciated the modern and classy room that made me feel at home.

The breakfast was a feast worthy of royalty, especially the homemade granola and scrumptious full English.

While the bathroom was beautiful, I found the step down into it a bit unnerving. The traffic noise from the road made it hard to keep the window open at night, and I could have used a fan for better air circulation. Despite these issues, I managed to sleep reasonably well, but it was less ideal for a light sleeper like me.

We had a lovely stay with a spacious double room and a breathtaking roll-top bath. The breakfast spread was a proper feast, but the shower was a bit on the small side.

I had a delightful two-night stay at Newgate House. Carole was an exceptional host, making me feel right at home with her warm hospitality. The breakfast was truly outstanding, featuring homemade granola and a memorable full English that was cooked to perfection.

I really enjoyed my stay in a lovely and spacious room with a stunning roll-top bath that was a treat after a long day. It was great to unwind with a morning cup of coffee on the sunny terrace and relax in the beautifully decorated dining room at breakfast. The only thing I would have liked is a fan in the room since the traffic made it hard to leave the window open, but I still slept well! 😊

The breakfast offerings included standout freshly prepared salads alongside a traditional English breakfast that was superb. the road noise occasionally interrupted restful sleep, and I found the parking situation a bit inconvenient at times, especially during peak hours.
